Oceania under 19s- PNG on fire

PNG are a together team, on day one of the Oceania under 19s they were the ones that looked a complete unit. Their natural tendency is to have a crack and at every chance they run, better still is with every runner there are plenty of friends waiting for the pass. This approach made them hard to pin down and Tahiti did a lot of running today in their 83-0 loss.

 

The PNG hooker was the star of the show, he had grunt galore, wheels to back it up and enthusiasm to continually turn up at the right times. Straight ahead was his only choice and even with 5 defenders in front of him he was able to crash through for a well deserved try to cap off a great day.

 

Tahiti did cling on for long periods, they had to spend most of the match on the back foot and unluckily for them they never got the go forward required. They seem a speedy jinky team when they do run, they deploy the chip through kick a lot and with a couple of lucky bounces could see their fortunes change against the likes of Vanuatu.

 

In the end PNG had a field day in the baking sun, their confidence will be very high as it should be after todays trot. If they carry on like this they will ask some serious questions of Samoa in their clash later in the week.
