Upolu Samoa Head coach Fepuleai Selefuti Patu has called on his players to step up their game against Tau’uta Reds this Friday.  Upolu returned from Tonga on Monday after upsetting lat years PRC champions Tautahi Gold 17-9, to open their campaign in good stead.

Fepuleai won’t be easing up off the throttle just yet and will be preparing astutely to bring the hammer down on the Reds.

“We’ve got three players wing Afa Pologa, centre Gasolo Salima and prop James Johnston out injured.”
“We’ve called in Jeremiah Fatialofa and Ioane Ioane as cover for James.”

Fepuleai says preparations for Friday night's match have been solid. Other than the injuries they have incurred, he is adamant the starting line-up will be the same as that which beat Tautahi Gold last weekend.

“There won’t be too many changes to the starting line-up from last weekend but there will be players covering for those injured.”  Fepuleai says Tautahi Gold dominated them in terms of possession and territory last Saturday in the first spell.   “We opted to go against the wind in the first half, and it was a very windy blistering day there last Saturday.”  Fepuleai says with wind at their backs in the second half, their decision paid off favourably.

“We use the wind to our advantage and managed to come away with the wind.”  Fepuleai admits there are still plenty of things to work on but he is forthcoming, playing with their smarts and top two inches will be their intent on Friday.
“We’re looking to play smart rugby and confident we have a game plan to follow through.”
