Rugby moves on fire in Fiji
All the teams in the Oceania under 19s championship were treated to a true taste of Fiji. They were invited to Narewa village, a gloriously groomed place just out of Nadi town centre.
It all started in the church and teams had turns at singing and the harmony of the beautiful voices rang through the village and all the locals poured in to witness this.
Then they received a wonderful banquet that of a Lovo (food cooked in an underground oven Fiji style). While they were eating and mingling with their friends from all over Oceania traditional dancing and singing was performed for their enjoyment.
As with most Island people, a wee bit of music gets them moving and it didn't take long for all the teams to start busting some moves of their own on the grass dance floor. It started off slow, and in the end entertainment value went through the roof as they did skits, broke out in some frieky style moves that no one has ever seen before and this had the crowd of 250 cheering and laughing their hearts out.
The teams blended in with each other, eagerly watching what each other was doing and bonding as a huge bunch of 19 year old mates.
The entertainment really lit up as the local boys did a Samoan style fire dance, blazing flames and wild maneuvers such as one guy stacked on another's shoulders while spinning a stick on fire stole the show.
This evening saw the boys truly relax, they all mixed and will be sure to sleep well in their villages tonight as finals time is getting close.
