PNC- Tonga chase a win
Tonga have yet to taste victory in this years PNC, however coach Isitola Maka is very proud of his new young team.
Going down narrowly to Samoa and Fiji, the Tongans have re grouped and are looking forward to this weekends clash with the impressive Japanese. Most teams have a rest day in the week, but the Tongan’s opted to train everyday this week and finetune their skills.
Coach Isitola Maka said “I am not worried about last week, we have regrouped and we are looking forward to the challenge with Japan”. Adding “I am very proud of my young squad and some of these names were unknown ones, but they have stood tall in the PNC this year”.
Changes have been made in the starting line up too, every player will get a taste of the PNC, this again shows the guts of this squad and coach, even with backs against the wall he is looking at the long-term gains for his team.
On the training ground the beefy pack steamrolled their way up the pitch, they are a tight unit and they intertwine those huge bodies into an intimidating force.
Samoa played right into the hands of Japan last week, Tonga will have seen that size doesn’t matter against such a courageous team, they have to use their bodies well and the brain too for variety.
Against Fiji they had a superior game plan for the first 40, everything they tried worked like a treat, they obviously do play to a pattern and will want to apply this for a full 80 minutes this week.
Isitola said he has pattern for this match, his men look primed to perform and it will be another all mighty clash in the PNC.
